Hall, Sr., died in this village on Sunday last [i.e., Sept. 9th], at the residence of his son Joseph R. Hall, aged very near eighty-seven years. The Emporia Weekly News, 15 Sep 1866, Sat DEATH OF AN OLD CITIZEN Thomas P. Hall, Sr., died in this village on Sunday last [i.e., Sept. 9th], at the residence of his son Joseph R. Hall, aged very near eighty-seven years. He was born in London, England, and came to America and settled in Lowell, Mass., in 1838. He was a calico colorer and printer, and worked at this business for over forty years. He came to Kansas in 1857, with four of his sons, and took a claim near Emporia. He returned to Michigan with one of his sons, Dr. E. Hall, in 1860. He returned to Kansas in 1865. He was a great lover of this new State, and expressed a determination never to leave it again. He went to his long home peacefully with the love and respect of all who knew him.
