Description	:	Thomas Powell is thought to have been the youngest son of Richard Powell. The earliest record of Richard is found in "Withers' Chronicles of Border Warfare" by Alexander Scott Withers. The same Indian massacre is also related in a Morrow Co., OH history as having involved a descendant who settled in that area, and it's in the "History of Preston Co., West Virginia" by S.T. Wiley. Richard Powell is in Monogalia Co., WV land records and may have d. in Monogalia Co. The known siblings of Thomas Powell were Robert Powell, who d. young on 11 April 1778 in the massacre, Moses Powell b. abt. 1774 who m. Rebecca Meredith and died before the 7 Oct. 1828 apprasisal of his estate, Aaron Powell who m Catherine unknown (possibly Burk) and may have d. before 1820, and Elizabeth (Powell) Lindsay Sturgeon. In Fairfield Co., OH, Thomas m. Phoebe Graham on 14 Jan. 1808. After she passed away, he m. the widow Elizabeth Stultz on 27 March 1832. Moses & Rebecca (Meredith) Powell had children. They included a daughter Prudence (Powell) Garvin b. 1808 Fairfield Co., OH. Prudence settled in Indiana with her husband and children. Prudence is buried in Indiana. Memorial 39126397. Elizabeth (Powell) Lindsay had children named: Juliana, Jacob, Mary, David, Robert, and Rachel, according to Ethel Albin. After her husband William Lindsay died in probably Fairfield Co., OH, Elizabeth married Peter Sturgeon on 30 Nov. 1815 in Fairfield Co., OH. Peter Sturgeon was born about 1787 in Paxtang, Dauphin Co., PA to Peter & Rebecca (McClure) Sturgeon. No will or estate settlement for Thomas has been found, but there were a series of land swaps between Thomas and his three children (Elizabeth, Moses, and Hiram) in Perry Co., OH shortly before he died there in Monday Creek Twp. Thomas Powell's son Moses Powell m. Enora Barnes and lived in Monday Creek Twp., Perry Co., OH until he d. in 1885. The youngest son Hiram Powell married Lucetta Mullenhour/Mollenhour/Mollenhaur from Allen Co., OH on 13 March 1834 in Hocking Co., OH. Lucetta was a daughter of Ernst & Margaret (Spenglern) Mollenhour, who moved to Hocking Co., OH around 1819. On 20 July 1836, Hiram & Luzetta Powell, as heirs of Ernst Mollenhour, sold their interest in land in Hocking Co., OH SW 1/4 of S 9, T14, R17, to Frederick Mollenhour for $120. Ethel Albin had in her unpublished Powell genealogy that Hiram & Lucetta owned a small 40 acre farm in Monday Creek Twp., Perry Co., OH. On 4 Feb. 1837, the Perry Co. farm was sold to Hiram's brother Moses Powell. That land was NE 1/4 NW 1/4 of Sec. 3, Twp. 14, Range 16. According to the sale document, Frederick Mollenhour was a witness. According to the Bureau of Land Management Government Land Office records, Hiram obtained a land grant from the Chillicothe office on 15 August 1837 for land in Hocking Co., OH. That land was located at SE 1/4 SW 1/4 S22 T12 R18 and was Certificate Number 7292 for 44.1 acres. I'm not aware of any records for Hiram Powell after this and don't know if there's a will or an estate settlement for Lucetta inheriting this land. According to Ethel Albin in her unpublished Powell genealogy, Hiram & Lucetta had two children: John Powell b. 28 Sept. 1834 OH, who was thought to have died about age 56 in around 1890, but she didn't know where, and Margaret A. Powell b. 16 Oct. 1837 OH, m. 12 Sept. 1857 Kosciusko Co., IN to David Warren (b ca 1836 IN). They had children: Azariah Warren b. ca 1858 IN, John Warren b. ca 1859 IN, Lucetta Warren b. ca 1863 IN, and Lilly A. Warren b. ca 1864 IN. Margaret was in the 1860 Harrison Twp., Kosciusko Co., IN census with her husband David Warren and children John, Luzeta, and Lilly. Azariah Warren from the 1850 census wasn't listed. Margaret was listed in the 1870 Tippecanoe, Marshall Co., IN census with just children: Johano Warren 11 OH, Lucetta Warren 7 IN and Lilly A. Warren 6 IN. Margaret (Powell) Warren secondly married William A. Hill on 28 Dec. 1874 in Marshall Co., IN. She was listed in the 1880 Independence, Montgomery Co., KS census with husband William A. Hill b. about 1818 OH, George W. Hill 15 OH, who may have been a son of William from a previous marriage, and the three Warren children, John Warren 20 IN, Lucetta E. Warren 17 IN and Lilly A. Warren 15 IN. Ethel was in touch with Theresa Boggs, who was a descendant of Lucetta (Mollenhour/Mullenhour) Powell Primmer for a list of the eight Primmer children and some of her other information. According to Ethel Albin, Lucetta (Mollenhour) Powell Primmer died 6 Jan. 1892 in Barton Co., Missouri. It isn't known when or where Hiram Powell died, but according to the births of the two Powell children and several of the Primmer children, Hiram probably died 1837-1840. There were no children from the second marriage of Thomas Powell to Elizabeth Stultz. Thomas is buried next to his dau. Elizabeth (Powell) Johnson, wife of John S. Johnson, in what was known then as the Pleasant Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Elizabeth Powell married John S. Johnson on 16 Feb. 1832 in Perry Co., OH. Elizabeth died in 1843 and John S. Johnson in 1858, but I don't see John S. Johnson (1805-1858) or his son John J. Johnson (1838-1862) in the 1850 census.
