Mrs. Kraft passed away at her home in Mapleton at 12:45 o'clock Sunday morning after an illness of more than a year. She was 59 years old. Heart trouble was her first affliction then followed compilations. Every effort was made to restore health but without avail. Her condition gradually grew worse and finally hope was abandoned. Mrs. Kraft before her marriage was Miss Tresa Neothlich. She was born in Wis. Nov 12, 1869. She moved to Ute, Iowa with her parents Mr. and Mrs. August Neothlich in 1879. In 1884 her parents moved to a farm 4 miles southeast of Mapleton. There she was married to John Kraft. Sept 4, 1884. The couple farmed near Mapleton until 1902 when they moved to Mapleton. Their residence there had been uninterrupted since that time. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kraft. Four died in infancy. Mrs. T.O. Burson is the only surviving child. Besides her husband and daughter, Mrs. Kraft also is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Maggie Frost of Correctionville and Mrs. Ida Young and Mrs. Frank Wildman of Kimball Neb. Four other sisters died during the diphtheria epidemic in 1879 shortly after the family came to Iowa. The eldest was 14. Mrs. Kraft was an ardent student of the Bible. In this she found comfort through the years. She was a member of St. Johns Methodist church and its Ladies Aid Society. Mrs. Kraft possessed a strong character. She was considered a real friend and greatly devoted to her family. Funeral services were held at St. Johns Methodist church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Rev Edward Pruitt, pastor of the church officiated. He as assisted by Rev Peter Jensen, pastor of the Christian church. Burial was in Mt Hope cemetery.
