Description	:	Jim passed away at his home in Billings, Montana on December 8, 1948 after a few weeks of illness. Jim was the 3rd of 11 children. In 1872 he came with his parents (both Irish immigrants) to Friend, Nebraska where they homesteaded in the south part of the county. Later the family moved near Ulysses, NE. Read More	Jim passed away at his home in Billings, Montana on December 8, 1948 after a few weeks of illness. Jim was the 3rd of 11 children. In 1872 he came with his parents (both Irish immigrants) to Friend, Nebraska where they homesteaded in the south part of the county. Later the family moved near Ulysses, NE. Despite the deaths of his father and his older brother, John, in separate railroad accidents, Jim followed railroading for his life work. A retired passenger conductor, he worked more than 50 years for the CB&Q Railroad. In 1894 while setting brakes on a box car, he was blown from the car by a terrific wind that carried him and the top of the car in telegraph wires. He survived with only a broken arm. During the Blizzard of 1988 he held his train at Kearney, NE because of the storm. Jim married Miss Maggie Coyle of Ulysses, NB on May 20, 1896. Feasting and dancing were engaged in until the small hours of the morning. On the Sunday evening following, they departed from Seward, via the B&M, for Sheridan, WY, their new home. Together they had 3 children. After Maggie's death in 1932, Jim married Nora Fahey nee Gorman. Jim never used tobacco or liquor. He was known as a man with a cheerful disposition and a good friend to everyone who knew him. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Saturday morning, Dec. 11. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in Billings. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Margaret; a son, Bernard; his parents, Stephen and Mary Considine and all but one of his brothers and sisters. Jim left behind his wife, Nora (Gorman), two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Hadley and Mrs. Margaret Neview, both of California, and one sister, Margaret Coyle, of Ulysses, Nebraska.
