Funeral services were held at Leonard at 1 p. m. on last Sunday, conducted by Rev. J. H. Briscoe, after which the remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground on the farm of C. C. Priest died at her home near Leonard last Friday night, March 1, 1907, after a lingering illness, aged 65 years. She leaves a husband, two sons and two daughters. Magruder, was born November 9, 1851; departed this life March 1, 1907, at her home near Leonard, aged 55 years, 3 months and 22 days. She joined North River Baptist church at the age of 15 years; was married to S. W. Priest January 8, 1871. Of this union were born five children, one of whom died when young, the others and also her sister were with her in her last sickness; her brother was with her a while before her death. Everything which she loved circle of home and many friends could do to arrest the approach of death was done, but they saw her mortal life ebbing away until finally on invisible wings her spirit went back to God who gave it. She leaves husband, four children, one sister, one brother, one aunt, one grandchild, many relatives and friends to mourn her departure. A short time before her death she expressed herself as ready to go whenever her Master called, but with a mother's solicitude she thought of loved ones left. She was conscious until her death and was very considerate for the welfare of others and seemed to appreciate so much the kindness and help of friends. She never hesitated to speak a word for her Master when she could and It was greatly to her influence that all of her children save one were brought to Christ, and although by nature timid and retiring, whenever it came to a question of right and wrong she was always ready to speak boldly in defense of the right and to denounce the wrong. If all mothers were as loyal to their convictions as was she and as firm in the teaching of the same to their children it would be better for children, and parents as well. She had peace and victory through the blood of tbe Lamb in her last sickness and death. After funeral services at the church in Leonard by her pastor, Rev. Briscoe, her remains were tenderly and sorrowfully laid to rest in the family graveyard north of Leonard to await the sound of the last trumpet on the great resurrection day, when our precious Redeemer comes to make up His jewels. Oh, it was so hard to give her up and we are so lonely and sad without ber, but it is a consolation to know that she has only gone before and just a little farther down tbe stream of life we too will anchor and clasp glad hands where we will part no more. May our Heavenly Father help us to live as did our loved one, that when the summons comes we too may be ready to go.
