Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, Iowa. Monsignor Richard Zenk will celebrate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Akron with military rites conducted by Hoschler Post 186 of the American Legion of Akron. Expressions of sympathy can be directed to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com Vincent Ervin Feauto was born June 2, 1919 on the family farm east of Westfield, Iowa, the son of Ambrose and Clara (Buryanek) Feauto. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith. He and his family moved to a farm north of Akron in 1927. He attended River View Country School and later Akron High School. In 1939, after graduating from Lincoln Aeronautical School in Lincoln, NE, he moved to Buffalo, NY. He worked for Bell Aircraft and was a member of a small team that built the first American fighter jet, the XP59A in secret. Of the four built, one hangs at the Smithsonian Aeronautical Museum in Washington, D.C. Vince enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air Corp. He served his country during WWII. He was honorably discharged. After the war, he returned to the Akron area to farm. He met his future wife, Rosey Beeck and they were united in marriage on September 4, 1947 in Akron, Iowa. Together, they are the parents of four boys, Jim, Don, Kevin, and Bob. They farmed in the Akron area until 1976, when they retired and move to Emmetsburg, IA. In 1988, they moved back to Akron. Rosey passed away October 22, 1991. For the past two years, Vince has been living at the 8-plex in Akron. Vince was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 62-year member of the Hoschler Post 186 of the American Legion in Akron and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Akron Senior Center. He enjoyed reading, fishing, and traveling. He enjoyed music and loved playing his guitar. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his four sons: Jim Feauto of Akron, IA, Don Feauto and his wife Deb of Akron, IA, Kevin Feauto and his wife Norma of Orlando, FL, and Bob Feauto and his wife Tami of Rock Rapids, IA; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Orville Feauto and his wife Marlene of Akron, IA, and Ken Feauto and his wife Elaine of Fort Dodge, IA; a sister: Mary Mockler-Hoeck and her husband Harlan of Hawarden, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; 4 brothers: Raymond, Lawrence, Barney, and Ron; and 2 sisters: Florence and Dorothy. Memorials can be made in Vince's name to Akron Senior Center or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
