Description	:	PILOT MOUNTAIN, NC ~ Mrs. Virginia Grey Flinchum Hill, age 81, of Pilot Mountain, Widow of the late Robert William (Jack) Hill left her earthly home and went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2012. She was a shining example of Christian devotion and God-given strength. She was born on May 25, 1930, in Surry County, to the late William Henry Flinchum and Lula Denny Flinchum. Mrs. Hill retired as a teacher's assistant at Pilot Mountain Elementary School with 27 years of service. She was a faithful member of Whitakers Chapel United Methodist Church for 65 years.... She was a shining example of Christian devotion and God-given strength. She was born on May 25, 1930, in Surry County, to the late William Henry Flinchum and Lula Denny Flinchum. Mrs. Hill retired as a teacher's assistant at Pilot Mountain Elementary School with 27 years of service. She was a faithful member of Whitakers Chapel United Methodist Church for 65 years. Mrs. Hill is survived by a daughter, Faye Hill Turney; a son, Ray Hill, both of Pilot Mountain; two grand-daughters, Melissa (Marty) Sewell of Pilot Mountain and Julie (Matt) Ritter of Whitsett. Also survived by the two joys of her life, great grandsons, Mason Sewell and Brady Ritter; a devoted sister, Shirley F. Simmons, and a loving brother, Spencer Flinchum (Frances) of Pilot Mountain; and two other special sisters-in-laws, Gaye Nell Flinchum (Rex) and Eva Flinchum (Bert); and many special nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William (Jack) Hill; her parents, William Henry Flinchum and Lula Denny Flinchum; and one brother, Rex Flinchum. In addition, one half-sister, Pearl F. Royston; and six half-brothers, Willis Flinchum, Elmer Flinchum, Everette Flinchum, Bill Flinchum, Vester Flinchum, and Bert Flinchum. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at Whitakers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph M. Fulk, III officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 28, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home, in Pilot Mountain, NC. Floral tributes will be accepted or memorials may be made to Whitakers Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Spencer Flinchum, 654 Whitaker Chapel Church Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the devoted sitters, Frances Flinchum, Shirley Simmons, and Rosetta Morrison; nurses and staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice of Winston-Salem and also the nurses and care givers at the Walnut Cove division. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is respectfully serving the Hill family.
