Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, two daughters, six sons, eighteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one brother, and one sister and other relatives. Stratford Courier October 13, 1949 Obituary Wallace Andrew Anderson Wallace Andrew Anderson, oldest son of Andrew P. and Margaret Anderson, was born on a farm near Stratford, Iowa, on Dec. 24, 1865. He passed away from this life at his home southeast of Stratford Oct. 2, 1949, at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 8 days. He had been in poor health for the past three years and during that time had been lovingly cared for by his devoted wife. He had been bedfast for only the last few days of his life. He was married June 16, 1897, to Clara Carlson, and had spent his entire life in this community. He retired from active farming in 1938. He is survived and mourned by his wife, Clara; two daughters and six sons: Mrs. Florence Andrews of Stratford, Mrs. Mildred Erickson of Webster City, Myron, Melvin and Herschel of Stratford, Carl of Stanhope, Vernon of Des Moines and Stanley of Kansas City, besides 18 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Albert Swedlund, and one brother, Albert Anderson, both of Stratford. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren - LaVonne Erickson and Eugene Anderson. He was a kind and loving husband, a devoted father to his children, a loyal citizen and a helpful neighbor. He was very active in Christian work. He united with the South Marion Methodist Church, August 20, 1905. He was a regular attendant at the services of the church and a promoter of every good cause. He was a member of the board of stewards for several years. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 4, at 2 o'clock at the South Marion church, preceded by a brief prayer service in the home. The Rev. A.G. Heddle conducted the services. Mrs. Verlyn Fry and Mrs. Roy Bergquist sang "Nearer My God to Thee," "Lead Kindly Light" and "In the Garden." Pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Anderson: Floyd Swedlund, Russell S. Anderson, Archie Carlson, Lester Carlson, Ransom Carlson and Chester Carlson. Interment was made in the South Marion Cemetery.
