Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in his memory. Private funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow, with Rev. David Lux officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Loup City, Nebraska. William A. Hansen was born January 3, 1904, in Loup City, the son of Nickalous and Pauline (Jung) Hansen. He graduated from Loup City High School in 1922. He received his teaching degree from Kearney State College in 1931 and taught school for many years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1944. He married Marie Haberman on August 18, 1943, in York. They had no children. Together they moved to Broken Bow in 1948 and owned and operated Hansen Appliance, until retiring in 1975. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, Broken Bow Elks Lodge 1688 and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Marie; one sister, Ann Waggoner of Stockton, CA; two brothers, Christian (Mildred) Hansen of Kearney and Lawrence (Hazel) Hansen of Loup City; one sister-in-law, Mary Hansen of Long Beach, CA, and one brother-in-law, Roscoe Baker of Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Amelia Stoddard, Matilda Baker and Gertrude Tyler, three brothers, August, Otto and John Hansen, one brother-in-law, Owen Waggoner and one nephew, Richard Hansen.
