Wilhelmine Pauline Jung was born February 17, 1873, in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, the daughter of August and Amelia (Kuehnz) Jung. When she was two years old, she moved with her parents to the new state of Nebraska in March of 1874, settling on a farm in Sherman County near Loup City. The early days were a constant struggle with drought, grasshoppers, Indians, lawless men and isolation, which tried the courage of the early settlers in the new state. She married Nickalous Johann Hansen on April 2, 1894, in Loup City. They were the parents of ten children. She used the name Pauline during her lifetime. Surviving are three daughters, Amelia (Fred) Stoddard of Ord, CA, Ann Waggoner of Redlands, CA, and Matilda (Dr. Roscoe) Baker of Denver, CO; five sons, Christian (Mildred) Hansen of Kearney, Otto (Letha) Hansen of Scottsbluff, William (Marie) Hansen of Broken Bow, John (Mary) Hansen of Santa Anna, CA, and Lawrence (Hazel) Hansen of Loup City; one son-in-law, Dr. Leon Tyler of NY; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Bove of Grand Island and Emma (Paul) Finder of Ravenna; one brother, August Jung of Loup City; and two sisters-in-law, Luella Jung and Bessie Jung, both of Loup City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, August Hansen, one daughter, Gertrude Tyler, one son-in-law, Owen Waggoner and two brothers, William and Herman Jung.
