Description	:	William Anton was the eldest of ten children and attended the village school in Kaltenholzhausen. In 1849 at age 19, he, along with his 15-year old brother William Charles, left Germany on their own. Their parents and younger siblings would join them in Hunt's Corners, Huron Co., Ohio, three years later in 1852. At first he worked as a farm laborer, but soon saved enough money to start his own farm in Lyme Twp., Huron Co., Ohio. Their parents and younger siblings would join them in Hunt's Corners, Huron Co., Ohio, three years later in 1852. At first he worked as a farm laborer, but soon saved enough money to start his own farm in Lyme Twp., Huron Co., Ohio. On Dec. 15, 1853, William Anton married Johannetta Mohr, and after some years, they moved to a larger farm in Sherman Twp., Huron Co. They had fifteen children, eleven of whom survived to adulthood. Two years after Johannetta's death, William Anton married Ida Schroeder Wehrmeister on March 13, 1877. She was a widow with two young daughters. Together they had two sons. William Anton continued to engage in agriculture and expanded his operations to three farms totaling 435 acres. He also owned property in the city of Bellevue where he lived from 1889 to 1897 and was one of the founders of the Bellevue Savings Bank, serving as a director until the time of his death. As Justice of the Peace of Sherman Twp. he was known as "S-quire Bill." He helped build the Reformed Church at Hunt's Corners and also helped organize Lutheran Sunday School at Pontiac, Ohio, serving as Superintendent.
