Description	:	Bill VonDeylen, 93, of Napoleon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2022. He was born to Harry and Laura (Plassman) VonDeylen on September 13, 1928, in Gerald (rural Napoleon, Ohio). On June 25, 1950, he married Phyllis Demaline, who after 42 years of marriage, preceded him in death on January 3, 1993. On April 24, 1994, he married Janet (Spangler) Inselmann, who survives. He was born to Harry and Laura (Plassman) VonDeylen on September 13, 1928, in Gerald (rural Napoleon, Ohio). On June 25, 1950, he married Phyllis Demaline, who after 42 years of marriage, preceded him in death on January 3, 1993. On April 24, 1994, he married Janet (Spangler) Inselmann, who survives. They have enjoyed 28 years together. Bill spent his grade school years at St. John Lutheran School, often recalling how he rode his tricycle to school in the early years. He graduated from Ridgeville High School in 1946. He spent two years and one day in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he established lifelong friendships. For his entire working career he was a John Deere implement dealer with his father in Gerald, and in 1976 moved the business to Napoleon. His son, Tom joined the business and became a co-owner up until the business was sold in 2005. Bill was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, where he held several offices and served on several committees. His faith was strong and steadfast in his belief heaven was promised to him. He was a member of Ridgeville American Legion. Bill loved his family and sports. He participated in sports during his school years, and later became a spectator at the events of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Detroit Tigers fan even following the Tigers' spring training games in Lakeland, Florida. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling even if it was for a day trip or a drive through the countryside. He enjoyed playing cards in two card clubs, relaxed recently by playing a good game of solitaire or dining out with the lunch bunch. Bill loved people and was friendly to all he met. Left to cherish his memory besides his wife, Janet, are their children, Tom (Sandy) VonDeylen, Anne (Wayne) Rausch, Karen (Dave) Bishop, Greg (Jayne) Inselmann, Kathy (Bill) Beck, Anita (Neil) Badenhop, Juleen (Scott) Leonard and Bill (Robin) Inselmann. Together they have surviving grandchildren, Cori (Adam) Niese, Haley (Dave) Buckmaster, Kylee (Kurtis) Staup, Nick Rausch, Teal (Don) Hasselswerth, Chad (Tara) Bishop, Marc (Erika) Bishop, Paul (Mandy) Bishop, Drew (Tanisha) Bishop, Jeff (Brooke) Inselmann, Mike (Cassondra) Inselmann, Owen (Dee) Beck, Katie (Amar) Joshi , Janie (Luke) Kreider , Jackson (Kaeli) Beck, Joe (Abbie) Badenhop, Megan (Scott) Bostelman, Clay (Kelsey) Badenhop, Greg Leonard, Brad (Kailee) Leonard, Mitch (Kayla) Leonard, Jenna (Nate) Wilhelm, Karissa (Drew) Kuesel. They were blessed with 47 great-grandchildren, five of whom arrived in heaven before Bill. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Arps and preceded in death by a sister, Donna Higbea. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 20, at St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township, with visitation from noon-1 p.m. Interment will follow at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Ridgeville American Legion. Visitation will also be held Saturday, March 19 from 2-8 p.m. at Rodenberger Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, Ohio. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please direct memorial contributions to St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township or Community Health Professionals.
