WILLIAM ELLIS PRATT William Ellis Pratt was born in Fayette county, Pennsylvania, March 14, 1859, where he grew to manhood. There he received his education in the country schools of the Quaker State. He was naturally gifted in the care and handling of livestock, and his ability as a horseman was a very important factor in his securing a position with a Transfer Co. With his parents, he removed from his native state to Kansas, in March 1886, and settled with them on a farm near Glasco. His many new acquaintances meant as many new friends. His physique, strengthened by an untiring effort to share his part in clean sports and athletics made him very popular with those of his generation. February 25, 1891 he was united in marriage to Mary Clinkenbeard. May, 1893 they moved to the present farm home where they have since resided. Through diligence, caution and careful management, they succeeded well in the establishment of one of the many comfortable homes of the community. The subject of this sketch was a great lover of children, and while he had none of his own, he never failed the opportunity to make one's friendship. He much enjoyed the passing hours with his friends. Was very fond of jokes, and was always ready to take as well as give. After an illness of (unreadable) duration, his life's journey ended December 10, 1931, aged 72 years, 8 months and 26 days. He leaves to mourn their loss, a loving wife, two sisters, four brothers, nieces, nephews, and a community of friends.
