Read More	Last Rites Held for Ellsworth Sowers Henderson Pioneer Burial of Prominent Mills County Pioneer in Wesley Chapel Last rites for prominent Mills county pioneer, William Ellsworth Sowers of Henderson, were held last Thursday afternoon in the Wesley Chapel church. A large number of Mr. Sowers neighbors and friends attended the services to pay honor to one of the best known men of that community. The services were conducted by the Rev. Lauren D. Thomas of Bagley, former pastor of the Wesley-Chapel Henderson Methodist churches, assisted by the Rev. K. E. Nesbit, the present pastor. Beautiful floral offerings, banking the fore part of the church, testified to the love and affection in which Mr. Sowers was held. Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. Harry Paul and Mrs. Ida Simmons, who sang, accompanied by Mrs. Mildred Schaffert, a niece of the descendent. In the funeral sermon, Rev. Thomas portrayed graphically the place and value in the community of a citizen of the high type of Mr. Sowers. He read the following obituary. William Ellsworth Sowers was born August 14, 1862 at Roseville, Ohio and passed away at his home September 11, 1934, at the age of 72 years, and 28 days. He was the son of Robert and Kate Sowers. When but a small boy, he moved with his parents to Mills County and has lived here ever since. He became a member of the Wesley Chapel church as a young man. On January 5, 1887, he was united in marriage to Martie Bevis. To this union were born three children, R. Walter, Mrs. Hazel Rainbow, and R. Bevis Sowers, all of Henderson. He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted wife, three children and aged mother, his twin brother, Elmer, and brothers, Ed and Jim of Henderson and two sisters, Eva of Henderson and Mrs. Anna Clark of Woodbine.
