April 18, 1876 and with his parents moved to Sherman County, Nebraska in 1881, settling on a farm about four miles south-east of Loup City, where they lived until Mr. Betts had grown to manhood. For several years he lived in Loup City and about four years ago he moved to Litchfield and became manager of the Sherman County Telephone Company's exchange at that place, which position he held until his death. April 18, 1876 and with his parents moved to Sherman County, Nebraska in 1881, settling on a farm about four miles south-east of Loup City, where they lived until Mr. Betts had grown to manhood. For several years he lived in Loup City and about four years ago he moved to Litchfield and became manager of the Sherman County Telephone Company's exchange at that place, which position he held until his death. On August 12, 1909 Mr. Betts was united in marriage to Miss Ada Benson of Litchfield, who still survives him, together with two brothers near Litchfield, three sisters, one living in New York and two in Illinois. The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church in this city April 11 conducted by the Rev. Tourtellot and interment was in the Evergreen cemetery. The deceased was a member of the I. O. O. F. lodge who had charge of the funeral. Mr. Betts was one of the best known and respected men in the county and was a man who was respected for his honesty and fair dealings. He was called home in the prime of his life, away from a loving wife and relatives which makes his death a sad one. The entire community mourn his death and extend their sympathy to the sorrowing wife and relatives. Times-Independent- Apr 18 1912
