Fifth St., well-known painting and decorating contractor, died at 6:35 p.m. Monday in a Norfolk hospital where he was taken Sunday. Death was attributed to a ruptured blood vessel in his chest. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Chruch. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The body will lie in state from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Home for Funerals where the rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Mr. McGinty was born June 10, 1901, at Neola, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen McGinty. He was a boy when the family moved to a farm in the western part of Madison County. The family moved to Norfolk in about 1910. Mr. McGinty served in the U.S. Army in World War I in 1917 and 1918, and later was in the U.S. Navy for two years. He was married Nov. 5, 1923, to Miss Florence Bentz of Norfolk. With the exception of a short time at El Paso, they spent their married life in Norfolk. Mr. McGinty was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion, 40 and 8 and last year was Madison County Democratic chairman. He was active in the American Legion post, county and district organizations, being a past commander of both the post and county. He worked for the Chicago and North Western Railroad during World War II. He is survived by his widow; one son, William; one grand-daughter, two brothers, Giles of Santa Monica, Calif., and Dan of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
