Description	:	OBITUARY William Julius Jung, son of August and Amelia Jung, was born near Evansville, Indiana, November 30th, 1873, and passed away at his home near Arcadia, on August 24, 1931, at the age of 57 years, 8 months ans 24 days. Read More	OBITUARY William Julius Jung, son of August and Amelia Jung, was born near Evansville, Indiana, November 30th, 1873, and passed away at his home near Arcadia, on August 24, 1931, at the age of 57 years, 8 months ans 24 days. When he was but three months old his parents imbued with the spirit of the pioneer, left the settled country where they then lived, and taking the small family consisting of Paulina, a small daughter and the baby, they decided to cast their lot in the new state of Nebraska. They selected Sherman County as their new home, locating at Loup City in early March, 1874. Other children came to bless their new home and as they grew older to share the tasks and hardships of the pioneer in a new country. Too much credit cannot be given to the hardy folk who braved the hardships of life in this region in the early days when drouth [sic], grasshoppers, Indians, lawless men, both white and red, the isolation, and other privations tried the courage of the early settlers. William grew to manhood and was united in marriage with Luella Shrove on May 8th, 1899. Six children were born with two of the children, John William and Gerald dying in infancy. Those surviving are Lee of North Platte, Mrs. Grace Webb of Arcadia, Mrs. Violet Hastings and Marie who are at home. Mr. Jung recognized the claims of Christ upon him and made public profession of his faith in Christ as his Savior, uniting with the Methodist Church in Loup City, remaining a member until his death. His health had been failing for several years and his weakened condition made him an easy prey to the fatal malady which seized him few days ago and proved more than his strength could endure. After a brief struggle, his tired body sank to rest, and his spirit returned to the God who gave it. Besides his bereaved widow and children, there remain the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Paulina Hansen, Herman, Mrs. Anna Bove, all of Loup City, and..... .....join them in mourning the passing of a kind and loving husband, father, brother. A host of friends and neighbors of the present day, together with those of bygone days who shared with him those pioneer hardships, lament the passing of a true friend and loyal neighbor. After a brief service at the home, the funeral service was conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Loup City, by Rev. W. C. Birmingham, assisted by Rev. H. N. Johnson, pastor of the Baptist Church. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery. The Sherman County Times - Aug 28 1931
