Description	:	Funeral services for W. S. Comer of Brule will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Brule Congregational church with the Rev. Harold Powell, pastor of the Ogallala Assembly of God church, conducting the rites. Burial will be in the Brule cemetery. Mr. Comer, 80, in failing health since July of 1954, became critically ill Tuesday afternoon and died about an hour after he was taken to Ogallala Community hospital by ambulance. A son of James and Margaret Comer, he was born Apr. 14, 1875 in Grayson county, Virginia, where he received his education. He married Mary E. Shupe Dec. 21, 1892 at Comer's Rock, Va., where he was employed in saw milling operations and they made their first home. Two sons and a daughter were born of their marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Comer came to Nebraska in 1911, locating on a farm near Wisner, and eight years later moved to a Keith county farm south of Brule. They left farming in 1927 to move into Brule, where Mr. Comer engaged in the grocery business for the remainder of his active business life. He was a member of the Methodist church at Big Springs and a former member of the IOOF Lodge. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, James S. Comer at Brule; a daughter, Mrs. Wiley Delp, living in Idaho, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; also a brother, John, and two sisters, Larma Hall, Comer's Rock, and Sibby Bland, Elk Creek, Va. A son, Garland, died Oct. 5, 1953. The Bracken mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. Published in The Keith County News; Thurs., July 14, 1955.
