Relationship links to them added to this memorial on May 21, 2016 due to better consensus of research that this relationship was/is credible. ------------------ Note: The exact DOB is uncertain: at least one family group sheet lists it as Sept. 28, 1831. However, the death record in Jefferson county, Iowa, listed it as being 1828, with the stated age at death being 80y 10m 28d. That calculates, approximately, to a DOB of September 29, 1828. Although the obituary listed the age as 78 years (which would account for a DOB year of 1831), the death record age at death is so specific that it is being used by this contributor as a priority level of information. Of course, there are variations in death and obituary information, so trying to reconcile all of these pieces of information is not always possible to the satisfaction of everyone. The death location may, or may not, have been in the City of Fairfield proper. The obituary noted that he died at the "county infirmary", which may well be a reference to the County Home, which was located just outside the city limits. If that was the situation, then listing this memorial with a specific DOD location of Fairfield would be in error. It is possible that there was a medical facility in the City of Fairfield at that time, but the obituary reference is too vague to identify the exact location. The death record listed the death location only as far as "Jefferson County, Iowa". For these reasons, any more specific DOD location edits other than just Jefferson County, Iowa, will be declined.
