Ad Failing Rogers, the fifth child of Henry and Mary Cool Rogers, was born near Glasco, Kansas, August 14th, 1885, where he grew to manhood, and graduated from rural school and Glasco High School, He taught three terms of school near Glasco. In 1906 Mr. Rogers went by covered wagon to Rawlins county, where he homesteaded near Atwood. The next summer he returned to Glasco to be married to Leola Eberhardt June 5, 1907, and take her, as his bride, to the home he had prepared. In this county he taught four terms of school. Five children came to bless this home, and Mr. Rogers took great pride in the fact all of them have degrees, from K-State, and have worthy positions. Melvin, of Abilene, Kans., being a soil conservationist. Ross is with the Corps of Engineers at Tulsa, Okla. Max, professor of Sanitary Engineering at Michigan State College. Lila Weber, the only daughter, is a supervisor at a Pre-School in Fort Worth, Texas, and Norman, insurance adjuster for Motor Insurance Co., is now located at San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Rogers was always interested in education and served many years on both the rural and high school boards. He served on the county AAA board for several years also. He was one of the first general agents with Farm Bureau Insurance Co., serving in that capacity until his death, which occurred Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 3rd, 1952, as he sat at his desk occupied with his work, in which he took so much pride. After living in Arion township 35 years, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers moved to Concordia last Nov. 6th, celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary last June 5th, with a large family gathering in their new home. He was a member of the Highland Methodist church near Macyville, and served faithfully as the superintendent, teacher of Men's Bible class and on the church board the many years he lived in that community. He could always see the good in anyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Surviving are his wife, the five children and their families, which includes 11 grandchildren, a brother, Rollo Rogers, and a sister, Mrs. Miner Ballou, both of his old home neighborhood. Many other relatives and a host of friends are also left to cherish the memory of one whose life, tho not too long, was well spent. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Sept. 6, at 2:00 o'clock at the Baptist church in Concordia, with Rev. Kenneth Elsworth, Rev. L. C. Gale and Rev. Leonard Clark officiating. Burial was at Glasco cemetery.
