Rogers, the fourth child of Henry and Mary Cool Rogers, was born April 29, 1883, seven miles northeast of Glasco. He passed away March 11, 1954, on the same farm on which his parents pioneered, having spent his entire life of 70 years in that community. He received his common school education in the Eureka school, later attending Kansas State College. He was united in marriage to Frankie Johns November 23, 1911. To this union were born two sons, Roy and Henry, and one daughter, Ruth. He was preceded in death by his wife, October 20, 1946; two brothers, Alfred and Ad, and two sisters, Mrs. Rachael Cunningham, and Alma, who died in infancy. He leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Roy A. Rogers of Springfield, Mo.; Henry Rogers of the home, and Ruth Felt of Concordia; one sister, Mrs. Miner Ballou of Glasco; two grandchildren, Sharon Rogers of Springfield, Mo.; and Bobby Felt of Concordia, who spent much of his life in his grandfather's home, other relatives and a host of friends. In early life he was prominent in the Old Fellows Lodge, holding every local office, and some in the Grand Lodge. He held many public offices such as school board member, township trustee, and other offices of public trust -- it could be truly said, "His word was as good as his bond." If ever a person loved his home, his family and his community, it was he. He was always ready to help every worthy cause in his community with his finances, and support. He numbered his friends by his acquaintances. Of one thing we are certain, his good life and deeds will be an inspiration to those who remain. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Glasco Saturday, March 13, 1954, at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Raymond Brown officiating. A quartet composed of Louis Cool, Bill Miller, Ronald King, and Lester Pilcher sang "In the Garden," and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. W.E. Miller. Casketbearers were Alonzo Kelly, Dick Wilson, William Sheridan, Ervin Teasley, Ted Wright and Robert Wright. Flower ladies were Mrs. Herman Bates and Mrs. Richard King. Interment was in Glasco cemetery with McDonald Funeral Home in charge. (followed by a list of relatives from out of town who attended the funeral.)
