Agnes began life in Pullman, Wash., on May 17, 1908, the fourth child of Horace and Lora Foster. Aggie loved to tell stories of growing up on the family homestead near Floweree. It was difficult to make a living on dry-land farming. Money was scarce but their family was rich in many ways. Her memories were happy, filled with warm reminiscences of childhood adventures and misadventures: churning butter with "dog power", sleigh rides to a country school on a bitter winter day, the barn swing that was a favorite with neighbor children and country dances that lasted until dawn. Aggies parents frequently offered shelter, food and assistance to neighbors and other families who struggled to survive on dry-land farms. The generosity she learned as a child stayed with her throughout life. Aggie graduated from high school in Fort Benton and married John D. Harris during the Chouteau County Fair weekend. The wedding cake was baked by her sister, Elva. For many years they farmed on the Highwood Bench. They had two children, John and Carol. Her husband died in 1955 and she managed the farm for several years. In 1961, she married Douglas Dundas of Great Falls. They spent many happy summers at their home on Flathead Lake. He died in 1970. Aggie excelled at the important things in life--being a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and listener. She had a wide circle of friends and thoroughly enjoyed life. To the end, her family respected her common sense and good judgement. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and all four siblings, Warren Foster, LaVern Foster, Doris Golden and Elva Zoller, who was also her life-long best friend. When Agnes died April 13, 2007, in Missoula, she was a young 98, one month from her 99th birthday. She was looking forward to the summer, when her geraniums would be even bigger than last year's. She anticipated the trips she would take shopping for summer clothes and always visiting with family and friends. Her's was a full and happy life well lived. She will be missed deeply by her family who cherished her.
