On election day while many were gathered at the polls, in one home friends were gathered at the bedside in sorrow, for a loved one lay dying. Albert II Brown, deceased. He was born in Knox county, Illinois, November 2, 1853, and died November 4, 1890, aged 37 years and 2 days. He was the son of H.S. and Ann Maria Brown and was reared as a farmer. While yet in his youth he cam to Iowa, where, now grown to vigorous manhood, he married Miss Mary Alteer at Shenandoah, Iowa, December 24, 1879. They remained there until 1884, when they moved to Hamilton county Nebraska, thence to Yuma, Colorado in 1889 After staying there a few months they moved to Denver, Colorado. Their union was blessed with three children, a son and two daughters. Of these Lena Pearl the eldest was taken sick with typhoid fever dying October 19, 1890 at Denver Colorado. After bringing the remains and interring them in the cemetery at Aurora, they stopped at the home of his sister Mrs. M. w. James, intending to remain but a few days. But it was not to be so Inside of twenty-four hours he was stricken with the fever and while suffering from bodily pain he became anxious about his spiritual welfare. Expressing a desire to obey the Lord's commands, he with his physicians consent, was buried with his Lord in baptism. Brother Pallister of Aurora, assisted by Brother Hickman of Marquette, officiating. His wife expressing the same desire was also immersed. At 2 o'clock, on November 4th., but two short weeks after the burial of little Pearl, he passed peacefully to rest. He bore his sufferings patiently and often spoke of "his home in Heaven". He leaves a devoted wife and two children, an aged father, five sisters and five brothers; besides a large circle of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. But they mourn not as those who have no hope, for they realize that their loss is his eternal gain. The funeral services were held at the residence of his brother-in-law November 5th., and conducted by Brother Hickman of Marquette, assisted by Brother Hickman of Aurora, after which he was laid to rest in the Aurora cemetery. Farewell until we meet in Heaven. One by one earth's ties are broken, as we see our love decay; And the hopes so fondly cherished, Brighten but to pass away. One by one hopes grow brighter, As we near the shining shore; For we know across the river, Wait the loved ones gone before.
