The grim reaper claimed him and his departing soul left his body on Independence Day. Mr. Brown had been in poor health for some time, but his condition was not considered so serious. Mr. Brown has been a resident of Loup City for about thirteen years. He bought and sold real estate and made quite a few trades during his residence in Loup City. Up to a few months ago he was a strong worker in the M.W.A. lodge, but when they made the raise he was forced out and this together with losses he sustained in the closing of the bank effected his general condition and his physical condition easily yielded to the inevitable. The funeral services were held from the residence Monday afternoon, in charge was Rev. L. M. Harwood, pastor of the church and interment was in Evergreen cemetery. William Hiram Brown was born at Abbingdon [sic], Illinois, January 8, 1858, and departed this life at his home in Loup City, Nebraska, July 4,1930, aged 72 years and six months. He was the son of Henry Sager Brown and Maria (Springsteel) Brown, the youngest of a family of six children, three brothers and two sisters, all of which have passed on, except the oldest sister, Mrs. M. A. James, of Aurora, Nebraska. He was married to Kathryn Kane on April 1,1880, who survives him. Five children were born to bless this union, two boys and three girls namely: Earl C. Brown, of Julesburg, Colorado, Flora, now Mrs. D. C. Thompson of Ansley, Nebraska, Harry S. Brown of Denver, Colorado, Clara, now Mrs. Trace Decker, of Gillette, Wyoming, Elva, now Mrs. George Clason of Clinton, Missouri. Also five living grandchildren. One little grandson, Ralph Brown, has passed on. Mr. Brown and his wife united with the Christian Church, at Marquette, Nebraska on December 24, 1894, and they have since remained true to that faith. Mr. Brown was of quiet nature, rather retiring, going about doing for and thinking of others. The members of his household rise up at this time to call him blessed and speak of his great love for his home and his loved ones. It is in a man's home where he is know best, and there Mr. Brown was loved best. He was a tender, thoughtful and loving husband and father. He was a worthy, stable citizen, a good neighbor, and a true friend, a man who respected and held in highest esteem by all who knew him, and his passing is a loss to his community.
