Brown, a resident of this community for more than 62 years died Sunday at the Aurora hospital after a ten day illness. Mrs. Rich and Mrs. Richard McKelvie sang, "No Night There" and "In the Garden", accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Glenn Haworth. N.S. Brown was born January 18, 1862 at Arlington, Illinois. When a small boy, he moved with his parents to Shenandoah, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. In 1887 he came to Hamilton county with a sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs.(Ida) Thomas Weston. The following year on Sept. 26, 1888, he was united in marriage to Mattie Cruff, at the home of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Sims,. Mr. and Mrs. Brown established their home on a farm west if Aurora and lived their until they retired and moved to Aurora in 1914. Mrs. Brown preceded him in death on October 8, 1941. Since that time Mr. Brown maintained his own home, and was taken to the hospital after he was taken ill about 10 days before his death. Mr.Brown was a congenial friend and neighbor and had the respect and affection of all who knew him. (Picture is of N.S., daughter Addie and wife Martha) Left to mourn his passing are: one daughter Mrs. John Cox; two grandchildren, Mrs. Arbie Williams; four great grandchildren and many friends. Pallbearers were Aaron Oswald, Robert Killion, L.R. Ryan, E.C. Reicker, John Moore and Theodore Oswald. Burial was in the Aurora cemetery.
