After her death, in possible childbirth, he married Anna Peden 28 June 1888 in Cedar county, Iowa. 26 May 1932 - The Tipton Advertiser Albert Tompkins Baker was born in the state of New York July 7, 1852 and died at his home in Springdale, Iowa, May 19, 1932, aged 79 years, 10 months and 12 days. He was the last of a family of nine children. In 1885 Mr. Baker moved from New York state to Rochester, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Anna Peden on June 28, 1888. Since coming to Iowa Mr. Baker spent his entire life in Cedar county, living most of his life in Rochester community. For the past 15 years he and Mrs. Baker had made their home in Springdale. Mr. Baker had been in failing health the past two years, though able to be about most of the time. About six weeks ago he was confined to his bed with a bad cold and after this he became steadily weaker. Everything was done that kind and loving hands could do but he failed to rally and finally slipped away on Thursday. He is survived by his widow, eight step-grandchildren, Mrs. Vernon Oxley of Iowa City, Mrs. Roy Karns of Tipton, Henry, Violet, Vera, Serena, George and Florence Peden of Rochester and two step-grandchildren, George and Harold Oxley of Iowa City, also by 3 nephews. The span of Mr. Bakers life in Cedar county covered the period of a great many changes in the life of the people of the county, changes in the farming methods, transportation and in many other details of common life. Mr. Baker was well known in the Rochester community and also had many friends in his later home in Springdale.
