| Description | : | There are conflicting accounts as to who Amanda's parents were. The 1870 US Census has her living with Peter and Dolly Hott. 1880 has her living with John Moses and Isabel Streit Hott. But her sister Louvernay's marriage records list her as the daughter of Dolly Robey Hott, and that same sister's 1932 obituary lists Amanda as a surviving sister. And so I've gone with Amanda being the daughter of Peter and Dolly. My working theory? That, after Dolly died, Amanda went to live with relatives. |
