Description	:	Anna Teresia Hoesel was born at Chemnitz, Germany, the 23 of January 1873 the daughter of Herman and Pauline (Newbewer) Hoesel. Anna was reared and educated there. Anna made silk stockings on a device similar to a rolling pin and made fine flowers and designs on the silk stockings for the rich. Anna married Karl Oskar Edmund Hoger the 6th of June 1892 in Chemnitz, Germany. After the family had saved enough money in 1902, Ed and the family, with his mother, Emilie Ottilie (Hurtschel) Hoger, prepared to journey to America. The 14th of April 1902, Ed declared his intention to become a citizen of the United States in Bismarck in the District Court of Burleigh County, North Dakota. Included in the petition were his wife, Anna and seven children; Edwin, Martha, Carl, Arno, Oscar, Antonia, and Ottila. On the 29th of July 1907 in the District Court of Morton County, North Dakota the petition was granted. The 18th of November 1907, Ed took the oath of allegiance for citizenship of the United States. After 26 years as pioneer farmers, Ed and Anna retired from farming and bought the John Bloodgood home in New Salem, North Dakota in the spring of 1928. In the fall, they moved into the house and their son. Karl and Anna had 11 children: Edwin Oskar, 1892; Martha Olga Otilla, 1894; Carl August, 1896; Meta Anna, born and died in 1897; Richard, born and died in 1899; Arno George, 1901; Oscar Emil, 1903; Antonia, 1904; Ottila Anna, 1906; Max Herman, 1910; and Louise Lina, 1915. Anna Teresia Hoesel died Thursday, the 8th of February 1968 at her home. At the time of her death, Anna was a member of the Peace United Church of Christ of New Salem, North Dakota. Funeral services for Anna were conducted at 1:00PM at the Peace United Church of Christ in New Salem, Monday, the 12th of February 1968. Anna was layed to rest beside her husband of 66 years in the Peace Cemetary in New Salem, North Dakota. At the time of her death she never learned to speak English. Surviving Anna are her children; Martha, Carl, Arno, Oscar, Antonia, Ottilia, Max and Louise, plus 41 grandchildren, 131 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
