Description	:	Carl August Hoger was born the 11th of March 1896 in Germany to Karl Oskar Edmund and Anna Teresia (Hoesel) Hoger. Carl was one of eleven (11) children. He had five brothers and five sisters. Carl and came to America in March, 1902, with his parents, brothers Edwin and Arno, and sister, Martha. The family settled on a homestead about 7 miles north of Judson. Carl spent his childhood on the home farm and attended rural county school, Mars School #4. Read More	Carl August Hoger was born the 11th of March 1896 in Germany to Karl Oskar Edmund and Anna Teresia (Hoesel) Hoger. Carl was one of eleven (11) children. He had five brothers and five sisters. Carl and came to America in March, 1902, with his parents, brothers Edwin and Arno, and sister, Martha. The family settled on a homestead about 7 miles north of Judson. Carl spent his childhood on the home farm and attended rural county school, Mars School #4. After school Carl lived at home helping with the farm work and sometimes worked for neighbors. He served one year and ten months overseas in the Army during World War I, returning in June, 1919. In 1920, he bought a farm. Carl married Martha Marie Wolf, the daughter of Ernest Heinrich and Marie Linda (Metzner) Wolf of Sweet Briar, North Dakota on the 21st of November 1920. Carl and Martha had nine children: Edmund Ernst was born the 18th of March 1922 died in infancy the 27th of March 1922, Carl August was born the 11th of August 1923, Caroline Anna was born the 4th of April 1926, Clara Alice was born the 20 of August 1929, Catherine Arlene was born the 20 of June 1934 died in infancy the 20th of June 1934, Clyde Arno was born the 27th of April 1935 died in infancy the 27th of April 1935, Charlotte Antonia was born the 19th of June 1938 died in infancy the 20th of June 1938, June Rose was born the 16th of June 1941 died in infancy the 16th of June 1941, Clyde Arno was born the 27th of April 1935 died in infancy the 27th of April 1935, Charlotte Antonia was born the 19th of June 1938 died in infancy the 20th of June 1938, Dennis Dale was born the 5th August 1943. Services for Carl August Hoger were held at 2:00PM Tuesday the 7th Febuary of 1989 at the Zion Lutheran Church of New Salem, North Dakota with the Rev. Irvin H. Bruenjes officiating. Carl was laid to rest by his wife in the Graceland Cemetery, New Salem. graveside services were held by the New Salem American Legion. Carl pasted away the 4th of Febuary 1989. At the time of Carl's death, he had 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
