Description	:	Oscar Emil Hoger was born the 20th June 1903 in a three room sod house, seven (7) miles north of Judson on his parents' homestead. He was the first son of Karl Oskar Edmund and Anna Teresia (Hoesel) Hoger to be born in America. Oscar was one of eleven (11) children. He had four brothers and six sisters. He was the first son of Karl Oskar Edmund and Anna Teresia (Hoesel) Hoger to be born in America. Oscar was one of eleven (11) children. He had four brothers and six sisters. Oscar, his sisters and brothers went to the Golde school, two miles west of the home place until a new school, Mars School #4, was build across the road from their home. In the fall of 1927 Oscar met the teacher, Mimi Wilhelmina Nyquist, from the school across the road and was married the 27th August 1928 in Mandan, North Dakota. Mimi was from Almont, North Dakota. She was born the 8th of July 1908 in Isabella, Dela, Michigan to Wilhelm Oscar and Anna Marie (Lanng) Nyquist. Oscar and Mimi had two children: Audrey Lorraine was born the 11th of May 1930, Glyn Harlo was born the 28th of August 1932. Their country home has been a home for many teachers who taught in school across the road or in the district. In 1974 Oscar and Mimi bought and remodeled a house in New Salem and they reside there part time. Services for Oscar Emil Hoger were held at 10:30AM Saturday, the 4th of December of 1979 at the Zion Lutheran Church of New Salem, North Dakota with the Reverend Irvin H. Bruenjes officiating. Oscar was laid to rest in the Graceland Cemetery, New Salem. Oscar pasted away the 1st of December 1979 at his home in New Salem, North Dakota. At the time of Oscar's death, they had 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Mimi is still in the remodeled home in New Salem. I have eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
