Aug 28, 1880, and departed this earthly tabernacle to her longed-for rest Mar. 22, 1971, attaining the age of 90 years, 6 months and 22 days. In 1899 she was married to John Spence. This union was blessed with four children. After several years of hardships, mother with her young family, joined her parents in a move to Littlefield, Texas. Aug 28, 1880, and departed this earthly tabernacle to her longed-for rest Mar. 22, 1971, attaining the age of 90 years, 6 months and 22 days. In 1899 she was married to John Spence. This union was blessed with four children. After several years of hardships, mother with her young family, joined her parents in a move to Littlefield, Texas. It was here that mother heeded the call of her Savior and yielded her life to Him and in 1918 she was baptized and added to the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Aug. 8, 1920 she joined hands with me, Cornelius G. Loewen, in holy matrimony. We shared each other's joys and sorrows for over 50 years. Two children were born to bless this union. Jan. of 1924 we moved to Winton, Calif. until 1954 when we moved to Willows, Calif. where we resided until her passing. We rejoice to know she is resting with her Savior whom she loved, but our hearts bleed when we think of her vacant chair. She leaves to mourn, me her sorrowing companion; 3 sons: Jack and Susie Spence; Jake H. and Agnes Loewen, and Dick and Alice Loewen of Glenn, Calif.; and four daughters: Catherine and Dave Loewen of Walnut Hill, Fla.; Marie Loewen of Winton, Calif.; Mary and Dave Giesbrecht of Glenn, Calif.; Annie and Walter Ensz, and one daughter-in-law, Leona Spence of Willows, Calif.; 68 grandchildren; 127 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Goossen of Grandview, Man. and two brothers: Pete and Abe Penner of Winton, Calif., and many relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are a son, Harry Spence, and a daughter, Frieda, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Glenn Mennonite Church Mar. 25, 1971. Interment was made in the Willows Cemetery.
