Description	:	OBITUARY: Arvil Olof Anderson Sr. ST. IGNATIUS - Arvil Anderson, 94, of St. Ignatius, passed away from natural causes on Dec. 3, 2001, at Village Health Care Center in Missoula. Arvil was born April 1, 1907, in Emmett, Idaho, to Ruby Chapman and Olof Edward Anderson. Arvil attended elementary school in Alberta, Canada and graduated from high school in southern Idaho. IGNATIUS - Arvil Anderson, 94, of St. Ignatius, passed away from natural causes on Dec. 3, 2001, at Village Health Care Center in Missoula. Arvil was born April 1, 1907, in Emmett, Idaho, to Ruby Chapman and Olof Edward Anderson. Arvil attended elementary school in Alberta, Canada and graduated from high school in southern Idaho. He went on to attend Idaho State University to receive an engineering degree. On Nov. 8, 1930, he married Edna May Worley in Twin Falls, Idaho. On July 19, 1939, Arvil and Edna were sealed for time and eternity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston, Alberta Temple. Arvil worked for the Idaho Power Co. until the crash of 1929. He then moved from town to town and job to job. During World War II, he worked at Ryan Aircraft Factory in San Diego, as a machinist. He then moved his family to the Mission Valley in 1934 and raised purple tag seed potatoes until his retirement in 1973. He then devoted his full attention to making violins, cellos, and violas until suffering a stroke in 1988. Arvil loved to fish, hunt and pick huckleberries. He played a mandolin in a dance band. He was a member of the Violin, Cello and Guitar Makers Association, where he accumulated over 50 trophies on tone workmanship. One year he took grand champion on a matched quartet of instruments. Arvil was known for his great wit, humor and devotion to his faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held numerous callings. Arvil was preceded in death by his wife Edna; son Rulon; grandson Ted Anderson; his parents; and three brothers, Melvin, Floyd and Lawrence. He is survived by a daughter, Karen and husband Dale Nelson and grandson Dane Anderson, all of the family home. He is also survived by daughter Lois and husband Tom Faw, of Nephi, Utah; five sons, David and wife Marge of Great Falls, Gail of St. Ignatius, Howard of Great Falls, Clifton and wife Teresa of Alberton and Arvil Jr. and wife Sue of Lolo; 26 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Hazel Chidester of Buhl, Idaho and Lila and husband Larry Crawford, of Cataldo, Idaho; and one remaining brother, Dale and wife Gladys of Florence. In memory of Arvil and his passion for dining out with family, we request that you enjoy a dinner out with your family. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Garden City Funeral Home. Viewing will continue from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Ignatius. Bishop Howard Moss will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasantview Cemetery in St. Ignatius.
