Mrs. Alton attended Malvern High School and lived in this community for several years. The services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Pall bearers were Ward Siothower, William Reed, Allen Wortman, Carol Wynia, Jess Beasley, and Paul Swoboda. Rev. Weber read the following obituary: Barbara Ann Lang, daughter of Walter Albert Lang and Annie Margaret Lang was born August 25, 1905, near Gage, Oklahoma, and passed away after about seven months illness at the Oakdale Sanitarium, Oakdale, Iowa, about 8:50 p.m. July 2, 1938, at the age of 32 years, 10 months, and 8 days. When she was about three months old the family moved near Emerson where she grew to womanhood. She attended the rural school and then took her high school work in Emerson and Malvern, graduating with the Malvern Class of 1925. She had always been faithful to her Savior, giving her heart to Him when about the age of 12. She was a member of the Champion Hill Presbyterian Church. She was united in marriage to Samuel Clarence Alton, son of Mrs. Carl Goodman, Mondamin, July 11, 1929 at Atlantic. They made their home in Malvern and Hastings, and finally in Mondamin. To this union were born three children, Richard Eugene, eight years old, Betty Louise who died in infancy, and Caryle Marlene, three years old. Besides her husband and two children, she leaves her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Evans and Mrs. Elsie Archer; three brothers, Worley, Roy, and Everett Lang, all of Malvern; also nine nieces and nine nephews and a host of relatives and friends. She was a wonderful wife and mother and loyal friend and neighbor. Relatives in their bereavement and her family have the sympathy of all who knew her.
