PASSES AWAY AFTER MAJOR OPERATION Had Been in St. Catherine's Hospital Past Month Seriously Ill FUNERAL TO BE FRIDAY Bernard Parr, Sr., resident of Dodge for the past 30 years passed away at St. Catherine's hospital in Omaha at 6:30 Tuesday morning when he failed to rally following a major operation. He had been in failing health for the past 2 years and for the past month had been receiving treatment in the hospital preparatory to an operation in an effort to regain his health. He had attained the age of 72 years, 7 months and 30 days. Born in St. Charles, Mo., on Jan., 14, 1866 the deceased came with his parents to Cuming county, Nebraska at the age of 3 years. His parents pioneered in the Oleyen community. He resided in Cuming and Stanton counties until 1907. Several years after the death of his first wife, he was united in marriage to Miss Bernadina Wiese at St. Henry's. To this union was born 6 children, John, Joseph, Bernard, Frank, Mayme and Henry. Their mother died when the youngest child was still a baby and the family then moved to Dodge. Thirty years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Mallman in the St. Wenceslaus church in Dodge. Since then he has lived in Dodge where for a few years he was in business. He was for many years assessor of Webster township and had wide aquaintanceship in both Dodge and Cuming counties. He was a member of the St. Joseph Church of Dodge and of the local Forester Court. Following his retirement from his farm in Stanton county he farmed on a small scale on his acreage south of Dodge. Surviving him are his wife and the following children: John, Dodge; Jos., Lindsay; Ben Jr., Howells; Frank, Stanton; (Mayme)Mrs. Rud. Busch, Howells; Henry, Snyder; Raymond, Fort Snelling, Minn.; Albert, Hooper; Leonard at home; James, CCC camp Blair; Catherine at home and Alicia, Sheboygan, Wis. leaves 19 grandchildren. Two brothers, August Parr and Henry Parr both of Dodge also survive him. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 8:30 at the family home and at 9 o'clock in the St. Joseph church here. Burial will be in the St. Henry cemetery. Bernard Parr was born in Missouri to John and Magdalena Lorenz Parr. He had three wives, the first was Anna Becker, born around 1870, married, Bernard May 20, 1890 and died, March 21, 1891. On the 13 June 1893, he married, Bernadine Wiese, born January 5, 1872 and died February 14, 1907. To this union 6 children were born, John, Joseph, Ben, Mayme, Frank and Henry. Her name is on the gravestone. On 15 September, 1908 Katherine Mallman, born February 14,1878, and Bernard Parr were married in Dodge, Nebraska. To this union, 6 children were born, Kathleen, Raymond, Alicia, Albert , Leonard and James.
