Description	:	Bea Durston Christian Bea Durston Christian passed away at her residence, Caruth Haven Court, Dallas Tesax on March 16, 2016 with loving family at her side. She was born August 30, 1920 in Clyde, Kansas, the second of four children to Snine and Adelia (Deneault) Racette. Read More	Bea Durston Christian Bea Durston Christian passed away at her residence, Caruth Haven Court, Dallas Tesax on March 16, 2016 with loving family at her side. She was born August 30, 1920 in Clyde, Kansas, the second of four children to Snine and Adelia (Deneault) Racette. Following graduation from Concordia High School, Bea accepted a position in Washington, D.C., during the WWII years. On July 11, 1943, Bea married David (Bud) R. Durston, while he was on military leave. The parents of two sons, Bea and Bud were a hard-working and successful business-team. After the war Bea and Bud opened restaurants in Concordia and Lindsborg, Kansas before moving to Topeka, where they owned and operated Durston's Restaurant, Gary's Restaurant, Greg's Catering and the Embers Lounge. Bud died suddenly on April 17, 1965 at age 46. Bea sold the businesses in 1971 and accepted a position with Brock Hotel Corporation. Bea married Ray Christian, a long-time Topeka businessman and jeweler, on July 18, 1986. They enjoyed their retirement years in Topeka and Lawrence. They raised Black Angus cattle, traveled and enjoyed the company of many friends and activities. Ray passed away April 21, 2007, having lived a full and joyful life. Bea was an active member of the Topeka community, serving on the Board of Directors of the YWCA, The Better Business Bureau, Topeka Parking Advisory Board and the Kansas Restaurant Association. She was a member of the Women's Division of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce, Sales and Marketing Executives, American Business Women's Association and Public Relations Society. Bea was an avid genealogist having researched four family history books. She moved to Dallas in 2009 to be closer to family. Bea is survived by her sons, Greg Durston (Marcia) of Midlothian, Texas, Gary Durston (Paula) of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandsons, Brad Durston of Independence, Missouri, and Bruce Monson (Cila) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three great-grand-daughters, one great-great-grandson; her brother Armand Racette, of Concordia, Kansas, and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Angeline Richard of Concordia, and Lela (Lee) Russ of St. Francis and Junction City, Kansas. A private family burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas or Midland Hospice.
