Read More	The death of Mrs. Frank Colgan which occurred at the home four miles north of Alma Saturday, April 20, removed from our midst a pioneer of that community and a most highly beloved and respected lady and well-known to many Harlan county residents. Her passing brought deep sorrow to her family ad to her many friends and acquaintances. Mrs. Colgan had been an invalid for the past seven or eight years but through all of her suffering she ever maintained a cheerful disposition, and her loved ones and devoted husband tenderly and patiently cared for her and sought to make those years of suffering as pleasant and as cheerful as possible by kindness and loving devotion. On August 12, 1869 a daughter, Bridget, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hennessey at Forest, Ill. Baptized in the Catholic faith she remained faithful to her religious training throughout her life. In 1888 the family moved to Agnew, Nebr., to make their home. February 28, 1899, she was united in marriage with Frank Colgan at St. Joseph’s Catholic church at Agnew, Nebraska. To this union were born ten children, John, Mary, and Francis having preceded their mother in death. A wonderful mother always, she will be remembered for her patience, courage and thoughtfulness toward others. On February 28, 1939, Mr. and Mrs. Colgan observed their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and relatives. On April 20, 1940, Mrs. Colgan passed on to her eternal reward at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 8 days. Funeral services were conducted from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Alma at 10 o’clock, April 23, Father Schmidt officiating. Mrs. HJ McCaffrey, accompanied by Helen Lennemann sang. Surviving are her husband, and children, Leo of Orleans, Mrs. Loretta Ruby of Denver; Sister Mary Suso, St. Catherine, Kentucky; Mrs. August Lehman, McCook, Nebr.; William Edward and Celestine at home; eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one sister, five brothers. Pallbearers were Edgar Ruby, James Ruby, Francis Graf, James Mard, William Colgan and Edward Colgan.
