His early life was spent in Harlan county on a farm with his parents. Leo was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic church in Orleans. He was united in marriage to Mabel Loomis on March 21, 1921 at Cambridge, Neb. He farmed near Wilsonville, Nebr., and other places in Furnas County before moving to Orleans in 1934. Since that time, he did construction work until his health failed. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sons. He leaves his wife, Mabel and six children, Mary Ellen Conant of Orleans, Lucille Elliott of Denver, Colo., Frances Colgan of Lincoln, Bridget Mines of Holdrege, Nebr., Robert Colgan of Phoenix, Ariz.; Leona Augustine of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Bernice Lehman of Denver, Colo.; Celestine Colgan of Alma and one brother, Edward J. Colgan of Alma, Nebr. Rosary was recited at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, November 9. The funeral mas was held Tuesday, November 10 at 10:00 am with Rev. Ralph Egan officiating. Music was furnished by St. Mary’s Choir. Pallbearers were Charles Blees, Warren Fowler, George Graf, Bill Mintzmeyer, Jim Dunlay, and Gerald Manley. Mitchell Funeral Home of Orleans was in charge of arrangements.
