Description	:	Byron E. Truex, 99, of Robinson, died Friday evening, Sept. 5, 1997, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha, where he had resided the past six years. He was born at Robinson, March 12, 1898, the son of Homer Orrin and Caroline Sophia Lange Truex and was a lifelong Robinson resident. Byron served during World War I with the First Infantry. He later was... Read More	Byron E. Truex, 99, of Robinson, died Friday evening, Sept. 5, 1997, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha, where he had resided the past six years. He was born at Robinson, March 12, 1898, the son of Homer Orrin and Caroline Sophia Lange Truex and was a lifelong Robinson resident. Byron served during World War I with the First Infantry. He later served his country for the second time during World War II in the Army Air Force, attaining the rank of sergeant. In Robinson, he operated a farm produce store and ice delivery service. He later was a Pioneer Seed salesman, retiring in the 1960's. Mr. Truex was a member of the United Methodist Church of Robinson; Hedrick-Moll Post #148 American Legion of Robinson; Robinson Lions Club; and Masonic Lodge #35, AF & AM, of Hiawatha. He also was a long time sexton of the Rose Hill Cemetery at Robinson. He married Opal Marie Mauslein in the early 1930's. She survives. Also surviving are a brother, Orrin Truex, of St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Velma Mathena, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Irene Maddox in 1969. Graveside funeral services are planned for 2:30 Monday afternoon, Sept 8, at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.
