Fricke, 87, Castro Valley, Calif., formerly of Topeka, who died Sunday, March 31, 1996, at the home of a daughter in Castro Valley. He moved from Topeka to Castro Valley last December. He was born Nov. 7, 1908, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of William Frederick and Margaret Seibold Fricke, and was graduated from Papillion High School in Papillion, Neb., and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He was a licensed professional engineer and worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation from June 1937 to December 1973. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church, National Society of Professional Engineers, Kansas Engineering Society and Topeka Gem and Mineral Society. He was married to Alice M. Cuddy Aug. 10, 1935, in Lincoln, Neb. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Carla Sheetz, Casto Valley, Calif., and Jean Brown, Cawker City; a son, Roger Fricke, Glendale, Ariz.; two sisters, Esther Sandfort, Humboldt, Neb., and Lydia Fricke, Tucson, Ariz.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Fricke will lie in state after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 Michigan, 66605, or to the Kansas Affiliate of the American Diabetes Association, 3210 E. Douglas, Wichita, 67206.
