Carrie Estella McQueen died Thursday last in her 37th year. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Smeltz. Husband and three children survive her death, together with parents, two sisters and three brothers. she united with the church at Mt. In loving memory of Carrie Estella McQueen who was born May 7, 1870, and departed this life November 21, 1907--aged 37 years, 6 months and 18 days. She was the daughter of Adam and Addie Smeltz. She had but one sister, Mrs. L. B. Wagner of Navarre. Their mother died when they were young and they fought the battle of life well, and both became devoted Christians. She also leaves a half-sister, Odessa Smeltz, and three half-brothers--Fernando, Homer and Harry Smeltz. She was married to Joseph McQueen October 1, 1889, to whom four children were born: two girls, Leona and Elsie, and two boys, Oscar and Forest. The elder one died in infancy. Throughout long summer months while the dread disease was preying upon her vitals, she bore it bravely and with Christian fortitude, knowing meanwhile that she must soon surrender her children to the care of Jesus, and she said in her parting words, while life was ebbing away: "Dear friends, it is growing bright around me * * I am not going to die but live with Jesus." O, precious thought! We do not sorrow as those without hope. Deceased was a loving mother to her children, devoted to their Christian training; a faithful and endearing wife, ever bearing her share of the conflicts of life. Friends with loving hands carried the body gently to its last resting place at Palermo Cemetery, where husband, children, father, brothers and sisters pass by, to reflect, to look at the flowers, and drop a tear upon the grave of one they so dearly loved.
