Description	:	Carroll was born October 20, 1924, at home in Logan, to L.C. and Madge Comstock Chase. He graduated from Logan High School and enlisted in the Navy before his 18th birthday. He served 3 years, 1 month and 26 days as an aviation machinist mate 3rd class, aboard the USS Intrepid. Carroll was united in marriage on September 9, 1943 to Patricia Joan Loper at Grace Presbyterian Church in Council Bluffs. Together they had 4 sons. Carroll was united in marriage on September 9, 1943 to Patricia Joan Loper at Grace Presbyterian Church in Council Bluffs. Together they had 4 sons. Carroll served as a police officer in Council Bluffs and Springfield, Oregon for a short time. The family moved to Oregon for 2 years and Carroll worked in landscaping, and then opened Chase Lawn & Garden Center when they returned to Council Bluffs. Carroll, Pat, and their boys owned and operated the business for 15 years. Carroll was the manager of Peoples Motors for six years in Council Bluffs. Carroll and Patricia bought Wilson Motorcycles in Cedar Rapids and renamed it Cedar Rapids Honda and relocated it to 16th Ave SW. They owned it for twenty-two years. Carroll endeavored in motorcycle safety and started the Motorcycle driver education program at Kirkwood Community College. Cedar Rapids Honda provided the motorcycles to be used for the class until Carroll convinced American Honda to donate new bikes yearly to be used. This school is still in operation today. Carroll was the first individual to receive the John Harley award, which was usually awarded to a school, due to his dedication to safety. Carroll and Pat enjoyed fishing at their winter cabin in Ashdown, Arkansas and were members of the Covington Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Robbie and Sami, a sister Marcella, three brothers-in-law, Lyle Graham, Louis Loper, and David Feder, and grandson-in-law Chris Ehrke. Ridgewood Cemetery in Council Bluffs and is shared with his late wife. They are buried in the garden of Time section Contributor: briteside913 (50058411)
