Catherine (Warner) Butterfield, daughter of George and Lydia Warner, was born in Perry Twp., July 18, 1843, and departed this life June 4, 1920, aged 76 years 10 months and 16 days. She was married to Seth Butterfield on January 16, 1861. To this union nine children were born, three of whom (William, Amanda and Johnson) preceded their mother in death. The surviving children are; Mrs. Elizabeth Tripp of near Petersburg; Mrs. John Huffman, of Columbus, Indiana; Malissa, at home; George W., on the adjoining farm in Perry Twp., Mrs. Will Baker, of Carrollton and Mrs. John Tope, of Baltic, Ohio. Mrs. Butterfield is also survived by a brother, Daniel Warner, 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Butterfield was converted in early life and ever after endeavored to live a true and consistent Christian life. She was a member of the old Tabor Methodist Episcopal Church until the church organization ceased to exist. Later she joined the Palermo Methodist Protestant Church, of which she was a member when she died. The funeral services were held in the Palermo Church, Sunday, June 6, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Floyd L. Ash. The interment was made in the Tabor Cemetery.
