Description	:	Catherine Rose "Kay" Hertlein, 77, Topeka, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1997 at her home. She was born Nov. 14, 1919 in Lakin, the daughter of John and Maryann Schmidt Reb. She lived most of her life in Topeka. Mrs. Hertlein was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Gage Northern Stars Bowling League. She was a former member of the auxiliary to Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion and Kansas Women Golfing Association. She married Leonard Joseph Hertlein on Jan. 20, 1942 in Topeka. Mrs. Hertlein was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Gage Northern Stars Bowling League. She was a former member of the auxiliary to Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion and Kansas Women Golfing Association. She married Leonard Joseph Hertlein on Jan. 20, 1942 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Maryann Kuhn and Linda Kay Hertlein, both of Topeka; a son, John L. Hertlein, Meriden; a brother, John Reb, Topeka; a sister, Mildred Ziegler, Topeka; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Hertlein will lie in state after 9 a.m. Friday at Parker-Price Mortuary, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary recited by Council No. 2608.
