Lacey, 63, 278 Benton street, clerk of the Pottawattamie county district court, died in a local hospital Monday following an illness of heart trouble and high blood pressure. Lacey, 63, 278 Benton street, clerk of the Pottawattamie county district court, died in a local hospital Monday following an illness of heart trouble and high blood pressure. Mr. Lacey recently took a thirty day leave of absence from his duties as court clerk. Saturday he entered the hospital where death occurred shortly after 1 p.m. Monday. Active in politics since 1923 Mr. Lacy's first political venture was in that year when he was appointed deputy clerk under District Court Clerk Roy Hardisty. He served as deputy until 1926 when he was elected clerk. Lacy held the office of district clerk until 1934 when he was elected clerk of the municipal court. After serving two terms as municipal court clerk , he was re-elected district court clerk and had served in that capacity from 1941 until the time of his death. In addition to his political activities, Mr. Lacy was associated with a number of civic organizations including the Kiwanis club, Elks lodge, was past master of Bluff City Lodge No. 71 A. F. and A. M., Harmony Chapter No. 25 O. E. S. Lazor Grotto, the Pottawattamie county Square and Compass club, and was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church. He was born and raised in Council Bluffs and was a Council Bluffs High School graduate. His survivors include his widow Mrs. Leila S. Lacy; two sons, Chief Warrant Officer, Charles Claxton Lacy Jr., with the navy in Seattle, Washington; and Pvt. Donald Ambrose Lacy; on leave here from Spokane, Washington; one daughter Mrs. Richard R. Lettner of Council Bluffs; four grandsons; two sisters, Mrs. Erwin E. Spetman and Mrs. H. L. Reimer both of Council Bluffs and one brother G. F. Lacy of Council Bluffs. Son of Charles Ambrose Lacy and Emma Simpson.
