He was employed in advertising and sales, working for the Omaha Public Power District since 1949, starting in the Residential Sales Department and becoming advertising sales manager in 1965. He was active in the Omaha Advertising Club as well as the Paddock Road Community Club. In his later years he discovered genealogy and worked very hard on family history.
