Description	:	C. J. Evans passed away at his home in Albert City early Friday, Nov. 11, 1932. The funeral was held on Sunday at the home at 1:15 and at the Evangelical Free Church at 2:00 o'clock. Interment was made in the Laurens cemetery. Charles Joseph Evans was born in Ogle County, Illinois on August 14th, 1848. He moved to Marshall County, Iowa, when a young man. In 1872 he was united in marriage to Mary Irvine and they became the parents of two children, John Irvine and Helen Belle. His daughter died in 1914. In 1890, Mr. Evans with his family moved onto a farm in Pocahontas County. Here his wife died in 1909. In 1914 he married Jennie Ellis, and he retired from farming and moved to Albert City. Mr. Evans was blessed with good health until just the past few years, and was up and about until a few weeks ago. He made his regular trips to town nearly every day, and will be greatly missed, as he was of a very pleasant nature and had a cheerful word for everyone. He was confined to his bed two weeks prior to his death and it is thought that he suffered a slight stroke. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife; one son, John Evans of Tama, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Emma Stover of Plover, Iowa; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
