Walker was born in Belleville, Kan., August 13, 1888, and passed away at Jennie Edmunson hospital in Council Bluffs, Ia., September 23, 1954 at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 10 days. Walker was born in Belleville, Kan., August 13, 1888, and passed away at Jennie Edmunson hospital in Council Bluffs, Ia., September 23, 1954 at the age of 66 years, 1 month and 10 days. He grew to manhood in Belleville and became a member of the Christian church at an early age. After completing his schooling, he worked for the American Express company, later transferring to the Railroad Express where he worked for 43 years, retiring in November, 1953. On June 14, 1916, he was united in marriage to Iva M. Van Aken. To this union three sons were born, James, Glenn and Lanny. They made their home for a short time in Lincoln, Neb., later moving to Council Bluffs, Ia., where he resided until the time of his death. He suffered a heart attack the evening of September 7 as he was ready to attend a ball game. In his early manhood he pitched many games for the Belleville ball club and retained his interest in the game throughout his life. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church of Council Bluffs, the Brotherhood of Railroad Clerks No. 2109 and the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees unit No. 30. Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sister, he is survived by his wife; three sons, James of South Pasadena, Cal., Glenn of Council Bluffs and Lanny of the home; two grandchildren, Jimmy and Linda of Pasadena, and three step-grandchildren, Judy, Carol and Terry of Council Bluffs; four sisters, Mrs. Lettie Whigham of Kissimmee, Fla., Mrs. Ella Hemsleigh of Coin, Ia., Mrs. Bessie Kilmer of Hutchinson, and Mrs. Mabel Swenson of Belleville; and a host of nieces , nephews and friends. Funeral services were held September 25 at Cutler Funeral chapel in Council Bluffs. The Rev. Ellis Butler, pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian church officiated and interment was in Cedar Lawn cemetery.
