FRANK A KUNKEL CALLED BY DEATH Funeral Services Will Be Held On Tuesday Morning Mrs. Frank A. Kunkel, a life-long resident of this community passed away at her home, 45 7th ave, S. E., Sunday. She was 65 years of age. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock from St. Joseph's church. Msgr. J. D. Fisch will read the solemn requiem high mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery under the direction of Wiltgen's funeral home. Clara E. Becker, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Becker, (nee Emelia Niemeyer), was born January 27, 1875, at Le Mars where she had lived all her life. On January 30, 1894, she was united in marriage to Frank A. Kunkel and to this union 10 children were born. Surviving to mourn her passing are her husband, six daughters and four sons who are: Mrs. Albert Mayrose (Mathilda) of Remsen; Arthur, Edward, Mrs. Al Thill (Agnes), all of Remsen; Felix, Le Mars; Mrs. Theo Langel Jr., (Caroline), Le Mars; Mrs. Nick Kneip (Dorothy), Remsen; Mrs. Lawrence Nuebel (Mildred), Le Mars; Mrs. Donald Wernli (Jeroma), of Alton; and Dale Kunkel of Le Mars. There are also two brothers, John E. Becker and Henry Becker, Farmer, S.D., and two sisters, Mrs. Dana Zeig, of Le Mars, and Mrs. John Kunkel, Farmer, S. D., and 31 grandchildren who mourn her loss. Mrs. Kunkel was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed in a large circle of neighbors and friends. +++ Le Mars Semi Weekly Sentinel, IA, Tuesday, January 7, 1941, pg. 1, col. 2 Wife of Retired Farmer Expires Mrs. F. A. Kunkel Life Long Resident Mrs. Clara E. Kunkel, 66, wife of Frank A. Kunkel, retired farmer, 45 Seventh Avenue SE, died unexpectedly at her home Saturday night about half past 10 o'clock when she suffered a stroke and expired in a few minutes. Mrs. Kunkel was a life long resident of Plymouth county and was a daughter of the late John Becker, wealthy landowner and member of the board of supervisors for many years. Clara E. Becker was born January 27, 1875, and would have been 66 years old the end of this month. She attended school and grew up on the farm in America township and helped in the household duties. She was married to Frank A. Kunkel January 30, 1894. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, F. A. Kunkel, six daughters and four sons, Mrs. Albert Mayrose, Arthur and Edward Kunkel, Mrs. Al Thill of Remsen, Felix Kunkel, Mrs. Theo. Langel, Mrs. Lawrence Nuebel of Le Mars, Mrs. Nick Kneip of Remsen, Mrs. Donald Wernli of Alton and Dale Kunkel of Le Mars. There are thirty-one grandchildren. She leaves two brothers and two sisters, John E. Becker and Mrs. D. Zeig, of Le Mars, Henry Becker and Mrs. John Kunkel of Farmer, S. D. Mrs. Kunkel was a devout member of the Catholic church and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She was a devoted wife and mother and esteemed in a large circle of neighbors and friends. The funeral will be held at St. Joseph church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, January 7. Solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated by Msgr. J. D. Fisch. Charles Knelp of Wittemore. +++ Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel, IA, Thursday, February 1, 1894, pg. 4, col. 3 KUNKEL-BECKER---At St. Joseph church, Le Mars, at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, Mr. Frank Kunkel and Miss Clara Becker, Rev. Meis officiating. The ceremony was impressive. The music was choice and the great pipe organ never sounded clearer and better. Miss Kunkel was the bridesmaid and Mr. Lanners accompanied the bridegroom. An infair or reception took place at the bride's parents home, John Becker, southeast of this city. It was an elaborate affair. Over 200 were invited and to say all were well fed it only needs to be said Mr. Becker killed a beef, two hogs, two sheep and a whole load of chickens. A portion of the spacious barn was converted into a dance hall. It was well heated and illuminated. Many were present and report a long-to-be-remembered time. May happiness ever walk with Mr. and Mrs. Kunkel.
