NICK KNEIP Mrs. Nick (Dorothy) Kneip, 79, lifelong Oyens resident, died early today (Friday, Oct. 26, 1990) at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center, following a long illness. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Oyens with Rev. Timothy Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home. The combined Christian Mother's and Court Joan of Arc Catholic Daughters of America rosary will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The former Dorothy Kunkel was born Feb. 16, 1911, in Le Mars to Frank and Clara Becker Kunkel. She was raised in Marion Township and attended rural school and later St. Catherine's parachial school in Oyens. She married Nick Kneip Jan. 13, 1931, in Le Mars. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Marion Township, south of Oyens. They retired and moved to Oyens in 1971. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society and Court Joan of Arc, Catholic Daughters of America of Remsen. Survivors are her husband, Nickolas Kneip of Le Mars; four sons, Loren of Oyens; Gerald and Robert of Le Mars and Richard of Oyens; a daughter, Mrs. Delbert (Cyndi) Berkenpas of Le Mars; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Agnes Thill of Remsen; Caroline Donlin, Le Mars; Mildren Nuebel of Le Mars and Jerry Wernli of Salem, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Clara Becker Kunkel; a daughter, Donna Mae; a sister, Mathilda Mayrose and four brothers, Art, Ed, Felix and Dale Kunkel. +++ Le Mars Sentinel, IA, January 16, 1931, pg. 1, col. 3 NUPTIAL TIES ARE ASSUMED Miss Dorothy Kunkel and Nicholas Kneip Are United In Marriage Ceremony At Church A pretty wedding was solemnized at St. Joseph's Catholic church on Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock, January 13, when Miss Dorothy Kunkel became the bride of Nicholas Kneip, Mgr. W. A. Pape officiating. Miss Mildren Kunkel, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and Peter Kneip, brother of the groom, was best man. The bride was attired in a dress of white satin with shadow lace flounce and wore a tulle veil in cap effect trimmed with pearls and sweet peas and carried a shower bouquet of bridal roses and sweet peas. She wore a beautiful pearl necklace, a gift of the groom. The bridesmaid was attired in a dress of pink satin and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Immediately after the ceremony the bridal party drove to the home of the bride's parents where a three course dinner was served to a large number of relatives. The dining room and tables were decorated in the bride's chosen colors, pink and white. The table was centered with a large wedding cake and lighted candles. The table waitresses were Misses Leona and Celesta Kemp, Phil and Josephine Kurtzhals, Margaret Langel and Rosella Nuebel, friends of the bride. Joseph Kemp and Leo Nuebel, friends of the groom, acted as ushers. The day was spent at cards and music and closed with a shower dance at Columbia hall with Becker's orchestra furnishing the music. The young couple received many beautiful presents. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Kunkel, of Le Mars, and was born and reared in Plymouth county and the groom is the son of John Kneip, of Le Mars. Both bride and groom are popular young people and have a large circle of friends who wish them a long and happy wedded life. Mr. and Mrs. Kneip left this morning on a honeymoon trip to Dubuque and Dyersville, Iowa and different parts of Wisconsin and at Wilmont, Minn. They will be at home to their many friends after February 15, on a farm south of Le Mars with the groom's father.
