A vigil and rosary service will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Tennant Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mrs. Lechman was born on Aug. 4, 1904 to John and Elizabeth (Sewald) Mari in Sewald, Russia. Her family arrived in the United States and settled in Sterling when she was six. On Feb. 5, 1923 she married Anthony Lechman at St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting for her children and grandchildren, gardening, and especially growing flowers. She became a citizen of the U.S. on May 7, 1959. Mrs. Lechman is survived by five daughters, Polly Geschwentner of Sun City, Ariz., Marie Stang of Albuquerque, N.M., Helen Geschwentner of Littleton, Genevieve Jenik of Sedgwick, and Florence Usechek of Northglenn; six sons, Ray Lechman of Englewood, Jim Lechman of Berthoud, John, Larry, and Leo Lechman, all of Sedgwick, and Ed Lechman of Arvada; a sister, Katie Kippes of Iliff; a brother, John Mari of Sterling; 47 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren. She was in death by her husband Anthony; and six brothers, Jake, Clarence, Martin, Val, Melior, and Charlie. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Julesburg.
